Getting V-HACD to work on MacOS High Sierra
I was looking into V_HACD to generate convex decompositions, for the physics engine I use, using Blender. I've still not fully got that part working but even getting to generating the decompositions has been tricky.
I installed V-HACD as per the instructions but it wasn't working. I was getting the 'no meshes to process' error. First step was to get Blender to output to the console.
Using the following command I can launch Blender from the Terminal.
'/Applications/blender-2.79-macOS-10.6/blender.app/Contents/MacOS/blender' &
Now I see what's going on. I have the error...
Library not loaded: /usr/local/opt/gcc/lib/gcc/6/libgomp.1.dylib
The solutions seems to be to install the GCC compiler. And version 6 of that compiler. Luckily that can be achieved easily using Homebrew.
brew install gcc@6 — The @6 installs v6 of GCC. The most recent is v7 but V-HACD will not work with 7.
And that's it. Now I can generate convex decompositions via Blender. Well, I can for some shapes. Still having issues with some models. Sigh...
